EYELASH LIFT

+ What is a lash lift?

Lash lift is a semi-permanent lash enhancement that changes the curl of your natural lashes, showing them off to maximum potential. The curl starts at the base of your lashes, which is hard to achieve with a traditional eyelash curler. It uses a specially formulated solution that is more gentle to reconstruct the natural lashes. A lash lift helps to save time getting ready in the morning, having you wake up already looking awake and polished.

+ What is the difference between the types of lash lifts (Keratin lash lift, Yumi, etc.)?

Most lash lift products in the market have very similar ingredients, because the science behind a lash lift is the same. Like any product, there will be differences in quality of ingredients, however, the skill of the technician is more important than the brand of product used.

A keratin treatment is a conditioning agent that helps strengthen and nourish your natural lashes after the perm. Although It does not affect the result of the lift, we do include the treatment with all of our lash services to help keep your lashes healthy.

+ How long does a lash lift last?

A lash lift can generally last between 6 - 8 weeks. It will gradually lose its effect as replaced by new growth.

How long a lash lift lasts depends on the following:

  1. The skill and technique of the technician.
  2. The natural resilience and porousness of your lashes.
  3. Attention to post appointment aftercare (no water for 24 hours).
  4. Your natural lash growth cycle. If lashes grow slow, you may keep the effect longer.

+ How often can I go for a lash lift?

We recommend anywhere between 6 - 8 weeks between treatments, to avoid any overlap of reprocessing. Four weeks can work if the natural lashes grow fast.

+ My previous experience with my lash lift resulted in minimum to no results. What may have gone wrong and when can I do it again?

In most cases, poor results are due to technician error. The most common mistake is improper shield choice or placement, but sometimes it can also be due to under processing, or bad batch of products. For any of the above situations, the lashes are fully processed, but didn’t take the curl properly. We recommend to wait at least 4 - 6 weeks before you try again, to avoid over processing and damage to your natural lashes.

In some cases, individual characteristics can be the cause of minimal results. A lash lift is not suitable for extreme hooded or heavy monolid eyes, as well as very short or thin lashes.

Each individual case is different, so we always do an overall assessment before the procedure to set expectations.

+ I have never had a lash lift before, what is the procedure like?

The whole procedure takes about 60-90 min with tint. Your eyes will be closed throughout the entire appointment, and we make sure that our technique is very gentle to ensure that our clients are comfortable and relaxed. The lift and tint solutions are applied to your lashes only, with only soft tape and hypoallergenic glue coming in contact with your skin. This procedure should never be painful. If you’ve experienced any stinging, this is due to poor practice and technique and not the products itself.

+ Will my lashes grow with a lash lift? Are there any damages with my lashes by doing this procedure?

Compared to curling lashes, applying, and taking off mascara often during your makeup routine, a lash lift every 6 - 8 weeks will decrease the stress placed on your lashes. We recommend using a growth serum for maximum results.

Your lashes may experience damage with a lash lift if the following occurs:

  1. Too little time between appointments.
  2. Poor quality or bad batch of products used.
  3. Improper techniques, includes overprocessing.
  4. Natural lashes are in poor condition prior to procedure.

+ Is a lash lift right for me?

The lash lift is suitable for clients who want a low maintenance treatment with natural results. The lift can last about 6 - 8 weeks and will gradually wear off as your natural lashes grow. Makeup and daily skincare products will not affect how long it lasts, as well as activities like swimming, hot yoga, steam rooms, and intense sports. Although a lash lift is suitable for almost anyone, we find that clients with lighter, straight and/or stubborn long eyelashes get the most dramatic result.

+ Can I use mascara with a lash lift?

Yes, you can use mascara with a lash lift, however, make sure you remove any eye makeup gently to avoid damage to the natural lash. We recommend using a soaked cotton pad with makeup remover, holding it on your eye for about 10 seconds to dissolve the mascara, and then gently wipe off. If you rush this process and don’t allow the mascara to dissolve properly, this could result in your natural lashes to tear off.

Those who cannot have a lash lift treatment performed on:

  • Those with an active eye infection or disease (ie. conjunctivitis/pink eye)
  • Those who have an anxiety disorder, claustrophobia or similar phobias where having their eyes closed for a period of time is difficult.
  • Those who have had eye or eyelid surgery within the last 6 months, unless medically cleared by a healthcare professional.
  • Those who have had recent eyeliner tattoos or removal in the last 4 weeks.

Those who are poor candidates for lash lift treatment:

  • Those who have poorly conditioned lashes: weak, brittle, and lashes with large gaps may not be the best to handle the perming process and therefore will not achieve the best results.
  • Those who have had hair transplant on their lash line (transplanted lashes will keep growing unlike natural lashes).
  • Those who have monolid eyes with short lashes, or have a very heavy eyelid. This occurs when the eyelid pushes down the natural lashes when the eyes are open. Result will be very minimal, however, if the client has long enough natural lashes, it can be more noticeable.

+ What is the aftercare for a lash lift treatment?

For the first 24 hours post treatment, do not get lashes wet, and avoid steam or applying creams close to the eye area. Avoid sleeping on the lashes and brush them through in the mornings. You can also start applying growth serums and mascara after 24 hours.

+ Can I get eyelash extensions on top of a lash lift treatment?

In some conditions, yes - if the lift is perfectly done with a gentle curl. Curlier natural lashes may see a decrease in retention of extensions, due to the smaller contact surface. We recommend that if you want to do both, application of extensions should be within 2-7 days after a lash lift, otherwise the extensions will not be on the same level. Although this is doable, we would like you to consider the cost of both treatments. We advise that getting a full extension set will be of better value. This combo treatment is only recommended if you have extremely downward pointing natural lashes that won’t work with lash extensions alone.

+ Can I get an allergic reaction from a lash lift treatment?

It's very unlikely for clients to experience an allergic reaction, however we do offer a complimentary patch test upon request. The solutions should not be on your skin so the chances of getting an allergic reaction is low, however, glue will be applied on the skin to place the shield. Everything will be thoroughly cleaned off at the end of the procedure, so getting an allergic reaction is not normally a concern.

+ Will the product get into my eyes?

Unless you move during treatment, this should not happen. Certain eye shapes or conditions can be difficult to work with and have a higher chance of getting solution in their eyes by even a slight movement. This is why we advise our clients to stay as still as possible during the procedure for safety. Our technicians work carefully and will warn you about excessive movement. If any product gets into the eyes, it will be rinsed with distilled water immediately.

+ How can I get more noticeable results from a lash lift?

What primarily determines the effect of a lash lift is the length, volume, and condition of your natural lashes. One way is to get a more noticeable result is to request a smaller size shield, which will create a more dramatic front-facing lift. The best way to grow and prepare your lashes for treatment is by using growth serum consistently and taking supplements (ie. Eyenvy lash serum, vitamin 3, biotin, omega 3, and applying castor oil).

+ Can I get a lash lift while I’m pregnant or nursing?

Yes, a lash lift treatment is completely safe to do while pregnant or nursing, provided that you are able to lie down and stay still for the length of the procedure ( 1 - 1.5 hours). We can accommodate with additional pillows and you may be able to alternate lying on each side.
